Between 60,000 and 80,000 pilgrims visit Tirumala every day to get a glimpse of Lord Balaji. For effective management of the crowd, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Committee has initiated efficient systems of darshan. Among the many different types of darshan facilities arranged by TTD, Sarvadarshanam is highly popular. The reason is that is a free darshan facility offered by TTD.
What Does Sarvadarshanam Mean?
Sarvadarshanam or Sarva Darshan is a free darshan. When they choose this free darshan method, pilgrims will have to wait for their turn for the darshan. The good thing about this method is that it does not make pilgrims wait in long lines standing. Yes, TTD has made facilities to let pilgrims wait in compartments with seating arrangements.
When they choose this method of darshan, pilgrims will wait in the compartments located in the Vaikuntham Queue Complex II. The meaning of the word sarvadarshanam is darshan to all.
How About The Timing of Darshan and the Waiting Period?
The timings for this method of getting a glimpse of Lord Balaji are different on different days of the week. So, pilgrims are recommended to refer to the weekly temple programme to know the timing for a specific week.
On normal days, about 18 hours are allotted for pilgrims visiting through this method of darshan to Tirumala. On peak days, 20 hours are allotted.
The Vaikuntam queue complex is the entrance spot for waiting-compartments under this system of darshan. The complex will have a series of inter-connected halls. These halls will take the people waiting in them to the main temple. The efficient queue system followed by TTD is highly appreciated. The reason is that it ensures that pilgrims reach the main temple in an orderly fashion.
Facilities in the Queue Complex
The waiting halls provides seating arrangement for pilgrims to stay seated until their turn of darshan arrives. But this is not the only facility available for pilgrims. These waiting halls offer other facilities like:
- Televisions that relay music and devotional programs
- RO Filtered water
- Well-maintained toilet facility
- Free medical facility
- Once in three, free milk, tea and coffee are provided to those waiting in the halls
- Annaprasadam is provided free of cost for those waiting in these halls
- To attend to complaints, to regulate queues, there are officers round-the-clock in the Vaikuntam Queue Complex
How to Book Sarvadarshanam Tickets?
You can ensure that you get a glimpse of the lord at Tirumala by booking the sarvadarshanam free tickets in advance online. You can do this through the official website of TTD at online.tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in.
Instructions Before You Proceed with Online Booking provided by TTD:
- Children below 12 years are allowed free entry without any ticket. However, for them, parents should produce age proof when entering the Vaikuntam Queue Complex.
- Also, pilgrims should carry the original of the same photo ID card they use at the time of booking to Tirumala during the darshan slot.
- Pilgrims should follow the traditional dress code suggested by TTD when visiting Tirumala for darshan.
- You should carry the printed copy of the receipt you get online at the time of online booking for sarvadarshanam.
- If you book tickets for a group of people, all people should report together for the darshan.
- When reporting, you should not carry any luggage or electronic gadgets including mobile phones.
- Once booked, you cannot cancel, prepone or postpone the darshan date.
- No one will be allowed to enter the Mada streets, temple and even queues with footwear
- TTD reserves the right to cancel the darshan on special circumstances
However, presently, online booking is not offered by TTD for Sarvadarshanam. So, here comes the question of how to get tickets for free entry.
How to Get Tickets at Tirumala for Free Darshan?
TTD Follows a system called slotted sarva darshan for this purpose. Accordingly, here are some rules followed by TTD for the issuance of free darshan tickets.
- Slotted Sarva Darshan or SSD tokens are issued from around 4 am every morning at the following places:
- Govindaraja Swamy Choultry located behind Railway Station
- Srinivasam Complex located opposite the main bus stand
- Bhudevi Complex located close to Alipiri Bustand
- Tickets are issued at these counters without any cost
- Also, if you are visiting as a group, every person should stand in the queue.
- One person will receive one ticket only at these counters
- The tickets are valid only for the same day of darshan
What If You Cannot Get Tickets?
If you cannot get tickets for free darshan at these counters, you can enter the free darshan queue directly. However, you can do this only at certain spots. They are ATCH Circle, ATC Circle or Lepakshi Circle. Regularly, free darshan takes around 7 to 15 hours. However, during weekends, due to heavy crowds at Tirumala, the free darshan can take between 11 and 24 hours.
How to Know Free Darshan Tickets & Timings Today in Tirumala?
It is hard to know how long will it take to get darshan today. The reason is that on some days, the crowd will be less rare. But, on some days, the crowd will be very high than the regular crowd. When you are particular about having a free darshan, it is better to start things early. It is better to visit one of the counters mentioned above by 4 am. The quicker you start, the faster you can complete the darshan. As mentioned earlier, the waiting time will be longer during weekends as compared to weekdays. So, if you can plan your trip during weekdays, it will be good.
